Find out what Rend Lake College's Institute of Lifelong Learning has in store for you this fall. Join us for a welcome reception from 1 to 3 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 1, at the One-Room Independence Schoolhouse on the Ina campus.
This free reception is offered to share information about classes and trips that are being offered this fall through the Institute of Lifelong Learning.
The Institute of Lifelong Learning is an organization of retirement-age people who share a common interest in lifelong learning and cultural enrichment. The only requirement to participate is a desire to learn more about subjects, including the humanities, performing arts, religion, history, current events, sciences and personal growth.
The reception will feature information on upcoming day trips which include a St. Louis tour of historical Route 66, an orchard and vineyard tour through Southern Illinois and a historical adventure regarding the Underground Railroad in Alton.
Guests at the reception also will learn more on upcoming classes about Southwest England, anger management, how to easily research information on the computer, and a lunch-and-learn on the Underground Railroad. Participants can learn more about social networks such as MySpace, Twitter, and FaceBook, or the rich architectural history of the Midwest. Guests will learn how to sign up for a Mystery Theater Luncheon and a Dinner and Theater event for Oliver Twist. They also will have the opportunity to hear more about a class on Southern Illinois towns and how they got their names, as well as a class examining Will Rogers and his wit.
Refreshments will be served and participants will be given the opportunity to register for classes and trips.
