Bilderbeck, Colombo earn tenure
Granted tenure to Sara Bilderbeck, Office Systems Technology Instructor, and David Colombo, Mining Technology Instructor. Both will now have the title of "Associate Professor" rather than "Instructor."
Bilderbeck "initiated the divergence of office technology into three separate areas of instruction. The additions of medical transcription, health information and administrative assistant have broadened the opportunities for students at Rend Lake College," wrote her division chair, Terry Wilkerson, in his recommendation for tenure. Bilderbeck has been employed full-time at RLC since May 14, 2001, but has held various other staff positions prior to returning to teaching the Office Systems Technology program.
Colombo was hired Nov. 16, 2006, to lead the revitalized Mining Technology program. Wilkerson said Colombo "has been instrumental in the reorganization and revitalization of the mining program, both in introducing technology as well as curriculum to support the mining industry. Dave works diligently with his advisory board and representatives from [the Mine Safety and Health Administration] to ensure his students have accurate and current training in the fields of mine safety and operation."
