INA, Ill. - Rend Lake College Community Education in conjunction with The Big Read is offering a history and hauntings tour of Lebanon.
Lebanon is said to be one of Southern Illinois' most beautiful and haunted small towns. This tour will be a two-hour walking adventure and a spine tingling journey into the haunted history of Lebanon. The guide will be Len Adams. Adams is a tour guide, historian and author of the recently published book Phantoms in the Looking Glass. Adams has been interested in ghosts since childhood and is said to know his way around the history and haunts of Lebanon.
Founded in 1804, Lebanon's culture dates back further. Its main street stands alone as a ghost hunter's paradise. Participants will take a historic and frightening tour and learn more about things from mysterious underground tunnels to phone calls from the beyond.
The Lebanon Tour will be held on Saturday, April 24th. The RLC bus will depart from the Historic Schoolhouse on the Ina main campus at 4:30p.m. and return at 11p.m. The bus will depart from the RLC Marketplace in Mt. Vernon at 5p.m. and return at 10:30p.m. The registration fee is $60 and includes tour fees, transportation to Lebanon by RLC bus, and dinner. The two-hour walking tour will be an easy walk with stops along the way.
