PINCKNEYVILLE, Ill. - Biotechnology is a field of applied biology that involves the use of living things in engineering, technology, medicine, as well as many other applications. Biotechnology research is used in many fields including health care, veterinary medicine, agriculture, law enforcement, technology, and energy conservation.
Rend Lake College Kids Camp Instructor Becky Thompson has developed an exciting hands-on camp based on biotechnology. In Biotech Camp, kids will get to play scientist by learning the skills needed to build models and solve mysteries. To name just a few, they will explore DNA, protein, genes, and bio-fuel.
For kids in Grades 1-3, the camp will meet from 1-4p.m. Monday-Thursday, June 14-17. For kids in Grades 4-6, the camp will meet from 1-4p.m., Monday-Thursday, June 21-24. Both camps will be held at the RLC Murphy-Wall Campus in Room 101. The cost of the camp is $55.
