Mt. Vernon-Rend Lake College announces two unique three-day quick computer workshops. Computer Basics Getting Started and Computer Basics Internet & Email are courses designed to help people with little or no experience with computers.
Quick computer workshops are convenient classes offered through Community Education. They are designed for people in the community who are interested in learning about the ever changing computer software applications. These classes offer people the chance to take a one or three day class. They are quick, convenient and help meet the educational and personal development needs of the people and businesses in our community.
Computer Basics Getting Started makes it easy to learn by helping students discover the basics of operating a computer using Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Word. The course covers all the basic skills and concepts needed to use a computer. Students also learn about word processing features and how to write letters with Word, how to modify system settings, how to save documents, and how to utilize files and folders. The class will be held on Wednesdays, September 8th, September 15th, and September 22nd from 9a.m. to 11:30a.m. in the computer lab at the Rend Lake Marketplace in Mt. Vernon.
Computer Basics Internet & Email takes students a step further. Once a student knows how to use a computer then it's time to learn the basics of utilizing the internet and email. Students will learn how to utilize the internet browser and search engines. They will also discover how easy it is to send and receive email, download and upload files, and how to protect a computer's security. This class will be held on Wednesdays, October 6th, October 13th, and October 20th from 9a.m. to 11:30a.m. in the computer lab at the RLC Marketplace in Mt. Vernon.
