INA, Ill. - President Charley D. Holstein announced this morning that sophomore Lacey Pearce is the winner of the 2010 Rend Lake College Holiday Card Design Contest.
A call for entries was advertised by college officials last month. Pearce's design for the college's annual card was chosen by a committee from among a handful of finalists. Nearly a thousand holiday cards featuring her artwork will be sent out.
Pearce is a 21-year-old sophomore graphic design student from Mt. Vernon, Ill. She is the daughter of Thomas and Karon Pearce. She studied art under Judy Mason at Mt. Vernon Township High School and won an art scholarship to RLC as a senior. She went on to win three more art scholarships to the college for her work at RLC. A dual major in fine arts and graphic design, Lacey specializes in web design, and serves as co-chair and webmaster for the student Art League on campus. When she’s not designing, Pearce enjoys playing multiple musical instruments, reading, foreign films and playing with her dog and cat, Shade and Tsuki.
In addition to having her design viewed by thousands and displayed on refrigerators and mantles across the college district, Pearce received a $100 gift certificate to the RLC Bookstore, which she said she will most likely use to buy some textbooks for the spring semester.
