INA, Ill.- Fire up the grill and get ready to impress guests with some valuable tips and techniques learned in Rend Lake College's BBQ Tips & Techniques classes with competition expert Denny Franklin. With eight classes and a live competition, this series from the college's Community and Corporate Education department will show the best techniques and tricks for tantalizing meats. Those in attendance will get hands-on experience making tasty barbeque like chicken, pork butt, briskets, and ribs.
BBQ Tips and Techniques classes will begin with "Cookers and Rubs" from 6-8 p.m., Thursday, March 24 and will continue with "Brines, Marinades and Sauces," from 6-8 p.m., Thursday, March 31.
April's offerings include "Learning All About Chicken" from noon to 3 p.m., Saturday, April 9; "Preparing Pork Butt" from 6-7 p.m., Friday, April 15; a continuation of "Preparing Pork Butt" from 8-9 a.m., Saturday, April 16; and "Working with Ribs" from noon to 4 p.m., Saturday, April 30.
In May, students will learn "Prepping Brisket" from 6-7 p.m., Friday, May 6; and "Finishing Up Brisket" from 8-9 a.m., Saturday, May 7.
BBQ Tips & Techniques will finish with a class trip to a BBQ competition in Steeleville on Saturday, May 14.
The registration fee is $ 75 and a supply fee of $75 is payable to the instructor the first day of class.
