Special Admissions Requirements – Practical Nursing
All students wishing to enter the Practical Nursing program must meet the following requirements:
1. Submit a completed RLC application form.
2. Provide proof of graduation from an accredited high school or submit proof of having successfully completed the GED exam.
3. Submit official transcripts from all high schools (or official GED test scores) and post-secondary institutions attended.
4. Be at least 17 years of age.
5. Pass the pre-entrance exam for the Practical Nursing program.
6. Attend an advisement meeting with the Division Chairperson and/or a faculty member.
7. Successfully complete ENGL 1101 with the grade of “C” or better.
Upon notification of conditional acceptance:
8. Provide proof of sound health as certified by a physician, physician assistant or nurse practitioner.
9. Provide documentation of health screenings and immunizations as required by clinical facilities.
10. Demonstrate current competency in American Heart Association Healthcare Provider CPR.
11. Submit to and pass a background check.
12. Provide proof of current health insurance.
13. Successfully pass a test dealing with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).
4. Accept provisions of the Rend Lake College Allied Health Division’s Substance Abuse Policy.
