Rend Lake College is located on the east shore of Rend Lake, the second-largest man-made lake in the state, with access provided by Interstate 57 and State Route 37. The college is centrally located within the community college district it serves. Campus facilities include the following buildings:
An Academic Building for academic and business classrooms.
A Science Building for the sciences, nursing and related programs.
The $2.6 million Jimmy J. Fulks Aquatics Center which features a six-lane, 75-foot pool with access for the physically challenged, therapy pool and whirlpool. Included are shower and locker room facilities.
The “James (Hummer) Waugh Gymnasium,” which includes the “ Wayne Arnold Aerobic Super-Circuit Fitness Center,” coaches’ offices and locker rooms for both Warrior and Lady Warrior athletic teams.
The North Oasis, which combines a lounge area for students with faculty offices and conference rooms. The North Oasis includes faculty offices for the Applied Science Division and the Liberal Arts Division, as well as offices for the RLC Times student newspaper and other special programs.
The South Oasis, which combines lounge areas for students with faculty offices. The South Oasis includes faculty offices for two divisions – Allied Health Division and Math, Science, Education, Health and P.E. Division – along with the American Heart Association Training Center, Workforce Investment Act, Upward Bound, K-12 Programs, Future Focus, In-Focus-Keep Focused, Teen Parent Services and Alternative Education.
A Student Center which includes offices for the Center for Business Services, Cooperative Education and Employment Services, Community Education, Institutional Research, Marketing/Public Information, Security, Textbook Store, Retail Store and Subway.
A Vocational Building providing classroom, computer and laboratory space for agriculture, automotive, architecture and graphic design programs.
The Learning Resource Center which includes a library, fine arts facilities and Theatre. At the east end of the LRC are offices for Adult Education and Literacy.
The recently expanded Administration Building, named for former board member Dr. Allen Y. Baker, which includes the President’s Office, Vice-Presidents’ offices, RLC Foundation Office, Student Records Office, Business Office, Counseling Center, Financial Aid, STARS, Career Center and Resource Development.
The Advanced Technology Center, which houses Computer Programming, Electricity and Electronics, Industrial Maintenance and Technician programs, IT Systems programs, Manufacturing Technology, Webmaster and Welding, in addition to AmeriCorps.
The Rend Lake College Foundation Children’s Center, which provides practical laboratory experience for students in the Child Development program and child care for infants, toddlers and preschoolers of students, faculty and staff and other district residents.
A Truck Driver Training facility.
The Hitting Zone, a baseball/softball training complex for area youth 8 and over plus college teams.
A Maintenance Building.
The restored, one-room Independence Schoolhouse and natural prairie.
Two greenhouses for botanical research and for use by students in the Horticulture program.
In addition, the college provides a land lab for the natural sciences and agriculture program, plus recreational facilities for baseball, softball, sand volleyball, a bicycling and walking path and a golf driving range.
