MISSION STATEMENT
Rend Lake College’s Adult Education and Literacy program provides adult education services in the Rend Lake College district. The program provides relevant and accessible educational opportunities for adult learners to help them succeed at work, home and in their communities. The program curriculum is designed to integrate instruction of basic skills in reading, writing and math; with life skills, parenting skills and workforce preparation skills.
PROGRAM OVERVIEW
Rend Lake College’s Adult Education and Literacy program is a comprehensive educational program that offers Adult Basic Education (ABE), General Educational Development (GED), English as a Second Language (ESL), Job Skills, and Parenting. The program serves students 16 years and older who are not enrolled in high school and who lack basic skills. All Adult Education and Literacy classes are offered free of charge to eligible adult students.
ADULT VOLUNTEER LITERACY
The Adult Volunteer Literacy Program recruits and trains volunteers to work with students who lack basic reading skills. The trained volunteer may work in the adult education classroom or work individually with students at public libraries or other locations in the community.
