The RAD program is 21months in length.
Upon completion of the program, a national certification exam is required.
The RAD program can be entered only during the Fall semester.
The RAD program at Rend Lake College is competitive. This means there are many students applying for a limited number of spaces.
Students interested in the RAD program must complete the application to the College listing RAD as the field of study.
Students accepted into the RAD program must meet the RAD program admission criteria listed in the college catalog.
Students pursuing studies in RAD may find they are unable to hold a job while in school due to the highly structured scheduling necessary for directed practice at clinical sites.
Students who have been convicted of a felony charge may not be eligible to apply for the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) Certification examination. If there is a concern, the student may have the ARRT Ethics Committee evaluate evaluate a pre-application.
Some RAD clinical rotations include attendance on weekends, 3-11 p.m. shift, and 11p.m- 7a.m. shift.
Students officially accepted into RAD will be required to acquire Hepatitis B immunizations, TB test, CPR certification and health physical at their own expense.
